The week of Thanksgiving, a family of three lost their home overnight.

Their landlord disconnected the utilities and told them to leave.

These parents and their young child moved into a hotel — uncertain about what came next.

They carried real barriers with them — but they also carried something stronger: determination.

Through it all, the father showed up to work every single week without fail.

When they found their way to Samaritan Resource Center, we made a simple commitment: we would walk alongside them.

Week by week, they met with their case manager — budgeting, saving, and building the foundation for a new beginning.

When a missing document threatened to slow them down, we reached out to our community partners at IDignity, who helped clear the way.

Our housing navigator helped them search for the right home, and after months of hard work and faithful effort, they were approved for a two-bedroom apartment.

When the security deposit wasn’t covered, they paid it themselves — from savings they had built one week at a time.

That moment said everything: this family believed in their own future.

A house can’t become a home without furniture. We connected this family to The Mustard Seed, who helped fill their new space with comfort and warmth.

Today, this family is home — not just housed, but restored.

Their story is one of resilience, dignity, and the power of neighbors walking alongside neighbors.
