Angela became unable to work due to a disability. She filed for benefits, but her claim took a while to come through. While she waited, her husband David fell ill and couldn’t work for nearly three weeks, costing him his job as a truck driver. The two fell behind on rent, and the eviction notice came.
David applied for other jobs and stayed in touch with his former employer, hoping to be rehired. They came to Samaritan Resource Center fighting for a way forward.
Their persistence paid off. David was brought back to work in mid-June, and Angela learned her disability benefits would begin in July. Still behind on rent, they were on the verge of eviction while waiting for David’s first paycheck. Samaritan Resource Center stepped in to cover a portion of their rent.
Today, the family stands on solid ground. What began as a health scare and a stretch of hard luck is now a family that’s better equipped and more financially stable.

Samaritan Resource Center (SRC) is a drop-in resource center serving individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness in East Orange County.

As a faith-based organization, we provide compassionate, housing-focused support through case management, mental health counseling, healthcare, employment services, street outreach, and daily access to essential resources such as meals, clothing, showers, laundry, mail services and hygiene supplies—helping our neighbors take the next step toward stability and self-sufficiency.
