Samaritan Resource Center recently hosted a community town hall in East Orlando to engage residents, local businesses, and faith communities in an open conversation about homelessness in East Orange County. Executive Director Zeynep Portway led the discussion, highlighting the urgent need for more shelter options in the area after two proposed facilities were scrapped due to community pushback. Attendees broke into small groups to explore practical questions around shelter location, design, services, safety, and community involvement, with the shared goal of building a more informed and compassionate community response to homelessness.
