Orange County officials unveiled “Goldenrod Village,” a proposed 150-bed housing navigation center near Goldenrod Road and East Colonial Drive, at a public meeting Monday evening. The $27 million facility would offer wraparound services including meals, employment assistance, mental health care, and case management, with the goal of transitioning residents out of homelessness and into permanent housing within a 90-day program. The announcement comes as SRC Executive Director Zeynep Portway reports that our organization is now serving roughly three times as many people as in 2020, underscoring the urgent and growing need for shelter solutions in East Orange County. A follow-up community meeting is scheduled for May 11, with a county commission vote expected by July.
